San Diego County - History and Location
San Diego County is located in the far southwest corner of California on the coast of the Pacific Ocean, and was officially created at the time of California's statehood in 1850. To overcome the technological limitations of the time, the county was later divided into Riverside County in 1893, and Imperial County 1907 to better manage resources and govern the region effectively. The San Diego county seat is San Diego, which itself was named after San Diego Bay and the founding of the Mission San Diego de Alcala by the Spanish, in 1769.
Today, San Diego County is home to over 3 million people (as of 2005). It is the sixth largest county in the United States, and the third largest in California by population. It's cities range from small rural farming communities, to the urban downtown setting of San Diego.

Real Estate in San Diego County
Housing in the San Diego area has experienced a substantial increase in value over time, with some neighborhoods experiencing triple-digit percentage increases over the past five years. Recent cooling of the local market has slowed this pace substantially, and homes are beginning to sell at more reasonable prices, making real estate in the area a wise investment with plenty of growth potential.
